Wabi sabi minimalism
For this space, I wanted to create a new take on Japandi living—blending the distinct architectural elements of European design, inspired by Spain and France, with the thoughtful spatial flow of Eastern philosophies. The result? A home that feels both refined and deeply connected to nature, grounded in a warm minimalist palette with rich textures and organic materials.
Since this space was once three separate rooms, the renovation left us with a decision: keep the two existing fireplaces or remove one. And if we kept them, how could they feel intentional rather than redundant? The solution came through thoughtful zoning.
We kept one fireplace as wood-burning, tucked away in a cozy nook perfect for reading and quiet moments. The other was reimagined as a sleek, architectural feature—converted to gas and framed by stunning fluted marble slabs, creating the perfect backdrop for the family’s heirloom baby grand piano. The result is a space where tradition meets modernity, and every corner invites connection and comfort.
